    Protection holidays mode ON

It’s Christmas time and is it is also the time to set up and enable your holiday protection mode. Your online protection mode is simply the way to establish behaviors and approached which will allow you to enjoy your holidays without any unexpected negative on impact surprises.

So, today I have three practices which you can apply which are the basics for your holiday protection mode.

    1. Follow online shopping safety principles

if you think shopping online comes with no traps, then you are in ignorance and that is the worst place for your protection.

If you wish to know more about secure online shopping then listen to the episode “Tips for shopping online security”

    2. Minimize your online exposure

Avoid announcing your plans, habits and likes for the holidays: whether this is a planned journey, check-in habits to restaurants, coffee shops and hotels, things you buy and enjoy; just limit this to people who actually need to know, only share how much they need to know and choose wisely the mediums you will share this information. As an example, a Facebook chat box is never the right place to tell a friend the dates you will be on holidays. Whether you like it or not, your online world intersects your physical world in our days, thus being cautious on your online world pays off in your physical world.

    3. Know the real value of your belongings

Value information about you more than your jewelry. Being out celebrating is great, however leaving your phone unattended, your computer in an easy spot for someone to pick or your wallet with your identity card easily accessible to be stolen is more valuable than a diamond ring. You know why? Because access to your identity can lead to identity theft, emptying your banking accounts, taking loans on your name, buying goods with your funds or even damaging your reputation and sending you to jail for crimes you never committed.
